LadyAxe is a female fronted Viking/ Power metal artist from Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
In 1993, Axe (vocalist/ writer/ guitarist) broke into the metal scene in South Africa. At 18 years of age, she was the first female metal artist in the Southern Hemisphere. Often compared to Bruce Dickinson, Eric Adams and Rob Halford, it was clear that her power metal vocals were unique amongst the mostly growl based vocals of other bands.
Influences and favorite artists include:
Hammerfall, Tyr, Amorphis, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Manowar, Heidevolk, Candlemass and Elisa C. Martin.
Now, Axe (Natasha Danzig) and lead guitarist Anushka Draven lead LadyAxe into new frontiers with predominantly Viking/ Norse Mythology subject matter, while the band also explores Southern Voodoo styles and Celtic Ghost Lore when the mood takes them, playing mainly festivals in South Africa and Namibia thus far.
Currently writing for their EP "Asatru", LadyAxe will soon deliver a punch that will rattle Asgard itself and hope to eventually be signed by a metal record label in Europe, where their music can be showcased internationally.
